About woodchase park

While Westchase District is home to two small, urban, pocket parks, Woodchase Park will be the area’s first fully-staffed and fully-programmed community park.

The park is located at 3951 Woodchase Drive, south of Westpark Drive at the Westpark Tollway.

The 1.75-acre parcel was purchased by the City of Houston in 2016, using open space money set aside by multi-family developers as required by the Parks & Open Space Ordinance. Westchase District managed the design and construction of the park and is responsible for park programming and maintenance. This unique multi-governmental partnership brought a first-of-its-kind park to Westchase District.

The park was constructed by D.L. Meacham using designs developed by the team at the Office of James Burnett (OJB). The design, which was developed after extensive community engagement sessions and surveys of area residents, includes a children’s play area, dog park, water misting feature, community garden, restrooms, public art, fitness space, a 2,700 square foot multi-purpose pavilion and 7,500 square foot activity lawn.

Woodchase Park is within walking distance of more than two dozen apartment communities and townhomes with approximately 10,000 residents, making it an ideal location for a neighborhood park. It also connects to the Westchase Trail, which runs along the utility corridor between Gessner Road and Briarpark Drive.
