Summer fun has a new central hub. It’s called Woodchase Park. The park announces activities scheduled from June to July. “No matter the age, we have events that anyone can enjoy throughout June and July as students are on summer break,” said Louis Jullien, parks programming director. “Kids love to play in the park, adults workout here using our outdoor fitness equipment, and there are community gardens thriving with herbs, spices and plants thanks to our partners. In addition, Woodchase Park hosts enrichment activities for all ages where you can learn something new or learn to create.”
First-time presentations by the park highlight the schedule with marquee events that include a Worship Night with Anthony Rogers and Nani Nicole, Wellness Day presented by Tiffany D. Thomas and District F, and Movie Nights with showings of The Lion King and Encanto.
Performing arts partner Young Audiences of Houston provides activities every Saturday at 10 a.m. and at 3 p.m. Mornings feature a performance style workshop like Flamenco, hip hop and dance movement, and drumming while 3 p.m. is time for Art in the Park where kids can draw outdoors, learn calligraphy, sand art and more every Saturday in June and July. Another community partner, Bayou City Ballet, will lead Beginner Ballet classes Saturdays at 9 a.m. in June. The lawn will be an active part of the park, hosting lawn games and pop up soccer in addition to Movie Nights. No doubt, June and July are hot months in Houston. There will be lots of water fun activities to cool off. Every Monday at 10 a.m., Woodchase Park breaks out the water mister, bubbles, splash balls, beach balls and water toys for Water Works.
